Vietnam Veterans Invited to Ceremony to Commemorate March 29 as National Vietnam Veterans Day in Luzerne County
3/23/2017
LUZERNE – In an effort to honor all area Vietnam-era veterans, Rep. Aaron Kaufer (R-Luzerne) and Sen. Pat Toomey’s (R-PA) State Director Col. Robert DeSousa will join at a ceremony to commemorate March 29 as National Vietnam Veterans Day in Luzerne County.

This event will take place on Wednesday, March 29, at 9 a.m. at the VFW Post 283, located at 757 Wyoming Ave., in Kingston. Kaufer will offer remarks and present commemorative pins to eligible Vietnam-era veterans during the event. Retired Maj. Gen. James Joseph will assist with the pinning, and Col. Michael Konzman of the 55th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade will speak at this ceremony.

Veterans who served on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces at any time between Nov. 1, 1955, and May 15, 1975, regardless of station location, will be eligible to receive a lapel pin at this ceremony. Family members are invited to attend the ceremony with veterans.

“This event is about one thing: thanking these valiant heroes from our area who did so much to fight for democracy and freedom,” Kaufer said. “Dedicating March 29 as a day to honor all they did for our country is just one small way we can let them know that we are proud of their service to our Commonwealth and our nation.”

Please contact Toomey’s office in Scranton at 570-941-3540, or Kaufer’s district office in Luzerne at 570-283-1001 to register.
