Hunter Education Course Scheduled for Oct. 1, Kaufer Says
LUZERNE – By law, all first-time hunters and trappers must complete Hunter-Trapper Education training before they can buy a Pennsylvania hunting or trapping license. Rep. Aaron Kaufer (R-Luzerne) will host a training course on Sunday, Oct. 1, which will be in conjunction with the Pennsylvania Game Commission. It will run from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at the West Wyoming Hose Company,
935 Shoemaker Ave., in West Wyoming.
“Fall is a popular time for residents to want to learn how to hunt or teach to their sons or daughters; however, there are not always multiple training courses located nearby,” Kaufer said. “Since this training is required to obtain a hunting license, I am hosting this to make the goal of registering for the course, with the hopes of successfully passing, to buy a license more easily accessible.”
A training certificate, which is recognized throughout North America, is awarded when attendees pass a test at the end of the course. Registrants must be at least 11 years old to enroll. Visit
pgc.pa.gov for more information about the training.
