Kaufer to Speak at ‘The Wall That Heals’ Opening Ceremony in Swoyersville Jun. 06, 2017 WHAT: Rep. Aaron Kaufer (R-Luzerne) will speak at the opening ceremony of “The Wall That Heals,” a 250-foot replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, along with a mobile education center. The wall will be in Swoyersville from June 8-11, will be open 24 hours a day, and will be free to the public. It honors the more than three million Americans who served in the U.S. Armed Forces in the Vietnam War, and it bears the names of the more than 58,000 men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in Vietnam. It is guarded 24 hours a day, and Taps will be played at 7:30 p.m. each day. WHO: Kaufer, members of the American Legion, Guest Speaker Jan Craig Scruggs, veterans and families, as well as members of the general public. WHEN: Kaufer will speak at the ceremony on Saturday, June 10, at noon. The wall will be in Swoyersville from Thursday, June 8, through Sunday, June 11.
