LUZERNE – With the REAL ID enforcement approaching, Rep. Aaron Kaufer (R-Luzerne) and the Friedman Jewish Community Center (JCC) will be hosting a REAL ID Informational Seminar on Tuesday, Feb. 18, at 12:30 p.m. at JCC, 613 S. J. Strauss Lane, Kingston.

Beginning October 1, 2020, Pennsylvanians will need a REAL ID-compliant license or identification card or another form of federally acceptable identification (such as a valid passport or military ID) to:

• Board domestic commercial flights.
• Enter a military base.
• Enter a federal facility that requires ID at the door.

It is important to note REAL ID is optional for Pennsylvanians.

“I know many still have questions about what the REAL ID is, how REAL ID will affect their future travel plans, and what documents are needed to obtain a REAL ID, which is why we are hosting this informational seminar,” said Kaufer. “While obtaining a REAL ID is optional, we want to put our residents’ mind at ease as October approaches.”

Registration is required for this event. To register, residents are asked to call Sharon Matylewicz at 570-824-4646 extension 211.

For more information about this outreach, or any other state-related issue, contact Kaufer’s district office in Luzerne, located at 161 Main St., by calling 570-283-1001. Information can also be found online at RepKaufer.com or Facebook.com/RepKaufer.
