HARRISBURG – To continue providing needed relief for hurting Pennsylvania businesses, Rep. Aaron Kaufer (R-Luzerne) announced the opening of a federally funded relief program for performance venues, museums and movie theaters.

“While most Pennsylvania businesses benefited from state and federal COVID-19 relief funding and are able to open their doors, our performance venues, museums and movie theaters continue to be hindered by the pandemic and unfortunately did not qualify for relief funds,” said Kaufer. “These facilities provide our communities an outlet to experience educational and artistic cultures that prove to enhance our mental health and overall quality of life. I implore these venues to apply for this grant program so they can reopen their doors to the public.”

The Shutter Venue Operators Grants (SVOG) were established under the American Rescue Plan, and $16.2 billion has been allocated to the program. Applicants can apply for 45% of their 2019 gross revenues, up to $10 million. If they received a Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loan, the SVOG will be reduced by the PPP loan amount.

The grant is being administered by the Small Business Administration (SBA) and applicants can register by visiting here.
