HARRISBURG – Rep. Aaron Kaufer (R-Luzerne) announced that he was recently appointed to the board of directors of the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA).
As a member of the board of directors, Kaufer will support the mission of the agency to provide affordable access to higher education, both in the 120th Legislative District and throughout Pennsylvania. He will serve a four-year term.
“As a longtime supporter of higher education, it is a privilege and an honor to be appointed to serve in this capacity as a member of PHEAA’s board of directors,” said Kaufer. “At a time when student loan balances are in the national spotlight, I look forward to getting to work with my fellow board members to find strategies to provide more affordable access to higher education.”
PHEAA was created by the Pennsylvania General Assembly in 1963 to provide affordable access to higher education for PA students and families. Through the years, PHEAA has evolved into one of the nation’s leading providers of student financial aid services, including the Commonwealth’s state-based student loan program—PA Forward. PHEAA also serves millions of students through guaranty, servicing, financial aid processing and other programs.
